Lotus C-01 Superbike
Nearly a year ago, Lotus announced the launch of its new motorcycle division, with a teaser image showing the carbon fiber tank of its C-01 superbike. Today, we have the official unveiling of the real thing, and it’s stunning.
A 75-degree V-twin displacing 1,195 cc puts out 200 horsepower, powering the rear-wheel through a six-speed jaw-type transmission and hydraulic clutch. Electronic engine management with digital ignition adjustment ensures optimum performance. Inverted forks, twin suspension struts, a steel/carbon/titanium fame, twin front disc brake and single rear disc, and an aggressive frame/suspension geometry complete the high-performance package.
Lotus plans to offer the C-01 in a range of liveries honoring the company’s four-wheeled racing heritage, as well as a fully-customizable ordering process. Only 100 examples will be built, so don’t expect these superbikes to be within reach of most mortals.
Right now, only the prototypes exist, but the C-01 is certified for road use and ready for ordering. If you’d like to get your name on the list, get in touch with Lotus Motorcycles.

Street-lgeal Batman Tumbler For Sale
It’s hard to say which of the many incarnations of the Batmobile is the best, but there’s no denying that the one most likely to strike fear into the hearts of criminals is the “Tumbler” from the Christopher Nolan Batman movie trilogy.
This replica Tumbler features a Chevrolet LS1 V-8 and the requisite dual rear wheels, shod in 44-inch Super Swamper tires. A seller in Indialantic, Florida posted it on collector-car website James Edition with an asking price of $1 million. So which would you rather have: this, or a Bugatti Veyron?
For that price, would-be Caped Crusaders also get GPS, five cameras to make up for the Tumbler’s many blind spots, and a sound system with iPod integration. The seller claims this replica is a 1-of-5 limited edition.
While it is listed as street legal, the ad states that the Tumbler “is not a daily driver.” While it’s probably not the easiest car to park, that didn’t stop Team Galag from building a Tumbler replica of its own for the Gumball Rally.

Elon Musk: “Tesla’s SUV Will Be More Popular Than The Model S Sedan”
Tesla Motors announced Q4 earnings yesterday, announcing it expects to 55% vehicle delivery growth in 2014.
It expects to raise weekly production rates of the its Model S sedan from 600 to 1,000, news that sent the stock soaring.
On a conference call following the announcement, CEO Elon Musk was asked how demand looks for Tesla’s Model X, the all-electric crossover that will go into production later this year.
As usual, Musk was quite confident. Despite making no marketing push to promote the car, he said, Tesla has seen huge customer interest. Comparing it to a fishing trip, he said, “It’s like the fish are jumping into the boat.”
Later in the call, Musk was asked how he expects sales of the X to compare to the S. With the caveat that this is just an early guess, he said, demand for the SUV will likely exceed demand for the sedan.
You can now reserve a Model X for $5,000 and expect to get the car sometime in 2015. Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but Musk has said it will be slightly more expensive than the Model S, which starts for $63,570, after a $7,500 federal tax credit.

The MTT-136 Treaded Electic Sled: Far More Awesome Than Its Name
Quebec may not be the first place that comes to mind when it comes to building motorized vehicles, particularly in comparison to its neighboring province of Ontario. But French Canada has given us some rather interesting modes of transportation, from the Bombardier Ski-Doo and Can-Am Spyder to the Campagna T-Rex and Magnum MK5. But this latest invention, well, we’re not quite sure what to call it.
Developed by Québécois inventor Yvon Martel, it’s called the MTT-136. Those letters awkwardly stand for My Track Technology, and they adorn a design best described as an electric tracked locomotive tractor sled thingy. The idea itself is pretty simple: put an electric motor and battery pack inside an aluminum box powering a tread going around its circumference and throw a handlebar on one end. And that’s pretty much all there is to it.
Martel is currently looking for manufacturing partners and distributors, but it wouldn’t be hard to imagine all sorts of applications and potential customers – including the military – for this work tool and awesome plaything
