Tesla Model S Prone To Password Hacking?
As more and more technology gets crammed into our automobiles, replacing once simple mechanical systems with electronics and other such wizardry, hackers and people much smarter than ourselves are finding more and more ways to exploit them. The latest such case comes from a man named Nitesh Dhanjani, who has reportedly managed to send wireless codes over the internet to the Tesla Model S that can unlock the car’s doors.
According to an article from Reuters, the six-digit passcode required to gain entry into Tesla’s electric sedan isn’t the only flaw in the car’s security Dhanjani – himself a Tesla Model S owner – has found. That said, the car’s electronic key fob is still required to start and drive the vehicle, meaning thieves would only have the ability to steal things left inside the car and wouldn’t actually be able to operate it or drive it away.
“It’s a big issue where a $100,000 car should be relying on a six-character static password,” said Dhanjani, who has shared his findings with Tesla.

Automotive April Fools’ Joke Roundup
Happy April, everyone. And we all know what this first day of the month means: April Fools’ Day. Today is a national holiday for pranksters with the Internet acting as a serious enabler, and it’s always fun to see what kind of vivid imaginations exist out there in the automotive world. The abundance of fake news gets a little old as the day rolls on, but we did manage to get in a few chuckles thanks to a handful of major automakers and automotive news outlets that got into the pranking spirit this year
Some of our favorites this year includes Subaru showing what happens when you combine a bunch of rumors, a Corvette some may have already thought was a joke or Honda providing some in-car innovation circa the late 1980s. Honestly, we’re still waiting for official confirmation from Mitsubishi that the recently introduced 2014 Mirage is an elaborate April Fools’ joke using a failed design intended for the 1995 Geo Metro.

2014 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X To Be Discontinued This Year
Mitsubishi’s Lancer Evolution is getting on in years, with the current generation, the Evo X, having been with us since the 2008 model year. Mitsubishi has hinted at launching a radically different successor, but there’s no official word that we’ll ever see such a car in the next year or two. However, the situation may be even starker as a report out of Japan claims the current Evo X will be discontinued at the end of this year and Mitsubishi will use its remaining resources to focus on environmentally friendly cars rather than performance cars.
Nikkan Jidosha Shimbun (via World Car Fans) is reporting that Mitsubishi wants to foster an image of electric car leadership and will allocate its resources accordingly. The report adds that the performance image of the Evo previously helped the Japanese brand, especially during the days when it competed in the World Rally Championship, and that now this is in contrast with the new focus on the environment.
